Clean Kaïlash Project

Ethical charter

On the UNESCO website there is an accurate analysis of the actual state of the worldwide tourism and the associated issues:

“ No need of proof in maintaining the assertion according to which tourism could be the best friend as well as the worst enemy of development. Due to the heavy weight of the economy of industrial tourism, great attention should be given to this phenomenon with planetary dimensions. The impact of tourism is such that a new strategy is important in order to apply the correct policies at international, regional and local levels. The Unesco intends to accompany its 190 state members in the formulation of their policies, while rethinking the relationship between development and tourism. In this way the institution hopes to contribute to the fight against poverty, protection of the environment and mutual appreciation of cultures."

« The ultimate aim is to promote isolated regions which are less visited by foreign tourists and researchers, while ensuring that local populations benefits from the revenues generated by their exceptional natural or cultural environment.»

The vision and aims of Clean Planet Association regarding the sacred region of Mount Kaïlash go in the same direction. One of the main aspects of the “Clean Kaïlash” project is to make local people, tourists and travel agencies aware of their responsability towards hte environment.

That is to say :

  • To be concerned with the environment, by being involvec in its preservation and by minimizing the impact of human activities.
  • To respect the customs and traditions of the locals and consider that sensivities can differ. This means taking into account the level and way of living, beliefs and behaviors.

It is therefore necessary to get the two main actors, the travel agencies and tourists, to observe a number of rules, and promote a carefully thought-out tourism is respectful of culture and environment. This action is carried out thanks to an ethical charter. Its first objective is to protect the sacred region of Mount Kaïlash, by making well-known its signification and the justifications for its preservation.
