Clean Kaïlash Project

Comic strip

IInformation with images trough the television has reached the most isolated parts of Tibet. Sometimes even the nomads watch TV in their tents, thanks to the electricity furnished by solar panels.
In view of the lack of local communication in remote aeras, it seemed wise to us to include in our project a campaign to raise awareness among local population on environemtal issues. The means is the comic strip, wich aims to make known and propose a possible waste management scheme for the garbage created by the products cosumed by the local population.

Respect for the beliefs, the character and the sensitivity of Tibetan are the main reasons for which Clean Planet Association has chosen Tibetan artists to produce these animated bands. Both for the graphic plan and the contents. The synopsis was worked out in collaboration with Clean Planet Association.

Protection de l'environnementProtection de l'environnement

This informative and playful booklet is set in the Sacred region of Mount Kaïlash.

The comic strip contains simple and brief descriptions of common waste such as plastic, glass and aluminium cans; and more detailed explanations on the toxicity of  batteries and their impact on the environment, human health and the equilibrium of fauna and flora. Through out the booklet it is made clear why it is important for each individual to take action.

The comic strip also talks about the construction of the waste centre for used batteries, and the possible simple and efficient installations which can help keep the direct environment pleasant and healthy to live in.

Other facets of the booklet:

  • Awakening through a spiritual glance the immediate effects of our behaviors: more consumption causes more waste.

  • The scattered waste attracts an increasing number of crows, to the detriment of the vital space of the eagles, for example.
  • The children and the adults can identify themselves with the "heroes" who evolve in a familiar context. The story attempts to awaken vocations in the new generation, which will one day be in charge of looking after this magnificent natural heritage.

  • This comic strip is also mean for groups of pilgrims coming from all over Tibet. By taking it home with them, it will not only give them a souvenir, but also circulate in their own village, spreading the story, and perhaps it will give to some the desire to take initiative for the conseration of their own direct environment.
